Even Autistic People Love And Fight

In order to understand autistic people, you must be willing to enter their world and not force them to enter yours. Only in this way can you discover their inner light and the fascinating potential that hides inside them.
Even autistic people love and fight

Autistic people are like the rest of us, because they too love and struggle to achieve their dreams. Today’s progressive era is quite ideal for reflecting on their inclusion in society. For many people still do not understand this condition. Thus, they can not help them meet their needs and reach their full potential. Something that is even more serious, and should definitely be addressed, is that we as a whole still do not fully understand the full spectrum of autism.

The UN General Assembly decided to set a date to emphasize the need to help improve the daily lives of autistic people in 2007. The aim is to promote more than just integration. They also want to show that these people are unique and can enjoy their lives and pursue their dreams within their community.

You have to remember that this neurological and developmental condition has a wide spectrum. Some people are more limited than others when it comes to communication and autonomy. For example, there are boys and girls with Aspergers who also possess other remarkable intellectual skills.

Each person is unique and extraordinary. Everyone must feel accepted in order to be fulfilled and happy, just like the rest of humanity.

Autistic people have to live in an increasingly complex world

The word “autistic” is sometimes used derogatory. It is used for a person who seems to be far from reality. What most people forget is that not all people are always the same and that there is great variation in the manifestations of this neurological condition. One that affects thousands of people who, despite reaching adulthood, have never been diagnosed and are unaware that they, too, may fall somewhere in the spectrum.

Here is an example. The CDC (US National Public Health Agency) conducted a survey to find out the prevalence of this condition in the population. In 2008, they estimated that 1 in 88 children showed this condition. While some of them presented only easily noticeable characteristics and behaviors, they quickly identified others, either through their family or their school.

To this day, we still do not know why a child develops such a special brain structure. One where there are hyperlinks, an excess of nerve bodies in the white matter, branches of excessively dense and deep dendrites and so on. It all forms a brain with language problems and changes in executive processes such as attention, problems with social action and a clear sensory hypersensitivity.

And here is something to reflect on, in the neurological singularities that occur to a greater or lesser extent in each individual. Namely that autistic people also get excited, feel, love and dream…

Autistic people and emotions

People with autism have feelings just like the rest of us. But yes, feeling is not the same as understanding. What happens in many cases is that they are overcome by these emotional states and do not know how to deal with them.

In the same way, they can also identify emotions in other people; however, they do not know how to react or what to do.

They perceive social signals but do not understand them. They observe but fail to see or understand what others expect of them under certain circumstances. But that does not mean they do not feel it. That does not mean they can not love or fall in love either. And they do it in their own way: they express it in their own language.

Authorization for people with autism

Autistic people need social self-realization. First, everyone must respect and support those who have a more serious condition, such as Rett’s syndrome or Heller’s syndrome. Second , every child or adult with Asperger’s or with more or less functional autism has the ability to fully develop their potential. All they need is to feel that they are part of society.

Within this valuable collective, there are individuals and families who deserve full recognition for every effort they make. For all the difficulties they overcome. The fact that a person cannot use verbal communication does not mean that they are less intelligent or have nothing to say.

Likewise, this authorization for people with autism needs an additional support point. You have to be willing to go into their world one way or another if you care about understanding them.

Autistic people do not perceive their condition as a problem or a disability. This is because they are neither broken nor faulty. They are different. They have unique abilities that they can contribute to a society that is not afraid of diversity.
