The Truth Makes The Soul Happy

The truth makes the soul happy

To lie or not to tell the truth in order not to hurt anyone or to hide a reality is something we have all done at some point in our lives. We are afraid of hurting other people. We are ashamed of what others may think, and we refuse to show our feelings.

But when we do not tell the truth or hide the whole truth, we get a certain feeling within us. It reminds us that we are not honest with ourselves. It feels like something is missing. It may be as bad to lie as it is not to tell the truth. Sometimes we hide our real age, or how well we can understand a language, or more important aspects such as our emotions.

“The truth is alive. It is not something you teach. ”

-Herman Hesse-

The fear of telling the truth

Many times we are afraid to tell the truth because we are afraid of what others may think, but that motive can cause us to sink into an alien reality. This can make us become someone other than who we really are.

Honesty is one of the basic qualities you need to interact with other people, and it is fundamental for us to take care of and respect this.

We should not forget that fear is a feeling that protects us from potentially dangerous people. But just like with any other emotion, it can be handled and controlled by us. Neuroscientists have wondered if fear is simply a defense mechanism against psychosocial warning signs, which makes us forget and hide what we think is true.

The necessary courage to tell the truth

To say as it is is to be brave. This means that you speak directly from the heart and that you say what you really think. You do not hide behind a false exterior. To be brave means to look the other person in the eye and say that you love him, or that you no longer love him. It means that you get the soul and the heart to strike in unison.

When we tell the truth, we show who we really are, and it can feel uncomfortable. But we can not hide forever under false layers, under a fictional exterior.

If you make a mistake, ask for forgiveness

We have all made mistakes in life when we have tried to protect another person, and we have then, for example, hidden the truth. But in one way or another, the truth always comes out and our mistakes show up. In these cases, ask for forgiveness, be honest and you will feel comforted and appreciated.

It is human to make mistakes. It is done without intention, and the only thing we should try to do is learn the lesson and prevent it from happening again. It is about reflecting on what happened and being honest with yourself and others.

The benefits of telling the truth

A study showed that Americans tell 11 lies in one week. For 10 weeks, the responses of 110 people were analyzed when faced with certain situations.

Half of the people were trained to tell fewer lies, and there was a group that, according to psychology professor Anita E. Kelly, showed health improvements. These improvements meant lower blood pressure, less headaches and less sore throat.

Why do we lie?

People generally lie for three reasons: to adapt to an inhospitable environment, to avoid punishment or to get a reward / win something. Some, for example, lie about a skill to get a job. They therefore lie to get a reward. Other times, people lie because they feel attacked or accepted.

We should not forget that lies have a direct impact on our self-confidence. We lie when our ego feels threatened or when we want to take advantage of a situation in some way. In this way, lies become a defense mechanism, a weapon for survival. But in any case, we must distinguish between liars who feel guilty and those who know nothing at all and can even begin to believe their own lies.

The truth always comes out

You should not forget that the things you hide, what you do not say, always come out in one way or another. The truth always finds a way, for the truth makes the soul happy and sets it free.
